Since the occurrence of COVID-19 pandemic, online collaborative lesson planning(CLP)becomes the new form of teacher professional development during this time. However,as a diverse and complex collaborative activity,CLP still faces some challenges, such as inconsistent shared goals, unequal participation and lack of in-depth monitoring and reflection. How participants perceive cognitive, behavioral and social information of their team members plays a vital role in the improvement of online collaborative lesson planning. The use of group awareness tools(GATs)can provide technical support for collaborative lesson planning, which is conducive to teachers’ intuitive perception of team members’ knowledge, participation and social interaction information, thus providing a new path for implementing online collaborative lesson planning activities. The main work of this paper can be divided into the following aspects:(1)Firstly,this paper analyzed the effect of group awareness on teachers’ online collaborative lesson planning, and illustrated the necessity of applying GATs to online collaborative lesson planning from three aspects: promoting knowledge co-construction,strengthening interaction, improving socially shared monitoring and regulation.(2)Secondly,an online CLP pattern oriented to group awareness was constructed.According to the characteristics of the online CLP process, the source of group awareness information was analyzed, then corresponding GATs and evaluation scales for this CLP pattern were designed.(3)Thirdly,an online CLP practice was conducted by using the above pattern.taking high school information technology teachers as the research object and dividing them into control group and experimental group to analyze the effect of the pattern on teachers’ shared goals, participation, and socially shared regulation level. The results indicate that the pattern can promote positive and equal participation in online collaborative lesson planning, especially in behavioral and social aspects of participation. In addition, there is a significant difference between experimental group and control group in the distribution of cognitive participation. Moreover, the visualization of group awareness information can promote teachers to achieve shared goals and take more socially shared monitoring and regulatory behaviors. This paper provides a new theoretical perspective for implementing online CLP,and extends the application scenarios of GATs.At the same time, the case study implemented in this paper can be a demonstration case for future online collaborative lesson planning.
