Research On The Environmental Design Of Old Streets Under The Concept Of Urban Renewal

The old streets in cities and towns refer to the streets built at the beginning of the formation of cities and towns,which are the areas with the highest utilization rate of urban residents’ production and life.The historical changes make them bear the culture and memory of cities and towns.Since the reform and opening up,life of cities are becoming decentralized because of the rapid development of China’s economy,the convenience of transportation and the popularity of automobiles and other factors.The old street in the center of the town has gradually lost the status of supporting the production and life of the town.The economic,population,cultural and political activities of the town have gradually dispersed.The development of the old street has stagnated,therefore it is in urgent need of protection and renewal.The proposal and application of "urban renewal" have saved the old streets and historical buildings surrounded by tall buildings in China’s rapidly developing cities,such as wide and narrow Alley in Chengdu,Ciqikou in Chongqing,Xintiandi in Shanghai and so on,which reflect the transformation of contemporary urban construction from demolition and large-scale construction to protection and renewal.But the old streets on the edge or outskirts of common cities are still forgotten.In the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the guiding opinions on promoting green development and adhering to the construction of a strong cultural country,as well as the concept of landscape city construction proposed by Qian Xuesen,all contribute to the exploration and research on the environmental design of the old streets under the concept of"urban renewal".Starting from the concept of urban renewal,this paper studies the design of the old street environment in town,and explores relationship between the city and the town in development during the era of large-scale urbanization.This paper summarizes the significance and key points of urban renewal,and then explores the characteristics,elements and methods of urban old street environmental design under the concept of urban renewal combined with the existing cases of old street protection and renewal at home and abroad.The thesis is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction,which mainly explains the background,purpose and significance,scope and content,research status at home and abroad,research methods and framework;The second part mainly studies the theory of urban renewal and old street environmental design,and puts forward the related problems in old street environmental design by comparing domestic and foreign cases;The third part deeply studies the regional adaptability,aesthetic elements and design strategies of the old street environmental design under the concept of urban renewal;In the fourth part,through the actual cases of environmental design of Shengli Street and Hanlin street in Pumiao Town,the design expression,the solution of practical problems and the explanation of the author’s views are carried out;The fifth part is the summary and prospect of the subject.
