Study On Street Space Of Mountain Town Based On Urban Renewal

With the development of urbanization, mountain town meets a new opportunity for development. Urban design as a supplement for urban planning is of great significance in controlling the urban form. However, following the design methods and experience of the plain areas, the unique geographical features of mountain towns are disappearing, and the natural and cultural landscapes as well as the history of the mountain towns are often ignored.Limited by the land use of the mountain town, the space of streets constitutes the main frame of the fabric of urban space, and has become the connection of other spatial elements in the town. As the major public space of mountain town, the space of streets has an important influence in the formation of town. Therefore, the renovation of street space has a key meaning to the renovation of the mountain town. The present studies of the street space often ken on the street itself lacking of the emphasis on the overall controlling mechanism, while the study of characteristics and form controlling of the street space in the context of urban renewal of the mountain town is still insufficient. Based on controlling of the urban overall style and urban fabric, this paper hopes to provide a new opportunity for the development of mountain town.Based on the survey and analysis of the central area of Wulong, Pengshui, Youyang, and with the ideas and methods related in the areas of urban design, this paper proposes the principles and methods of the urban design for the characteristics of the street development in the context of current urban renewal. By introducing the background, purpose and significance of this paper research, analyzing the basic concepts involved, establishing the object and scope of research and summarizing the research related in the home and abroad, the first chapter laid a foundation for the commencement of the paper.From the overall perspective of the city, the second chapter provides relevant basis for the following research by analyzing the basic structures and the spatial characteristics of the mountain town, and studying the features of the traditional streets.From the aspects of urban design, the third chapter analyzes the major factors which influence the development of the street space in mountain town; summarizes three models in urban renewal of the mountain town; studies the basic elements of the street space. This chapter proposes the urban design principles of the street space in mountain town based on city renewal.Based on the analysis of the survey, and with its own characteristics of the mountain town and the relevant practical theories of the street space of mountain town, the forth chapter proposes the urban design strategies of the mountain town street space in the background of urban renewal. These are mainly from three aspects: the leading role of the natural elements to composition of the street landscape, integration of old and new street block, the overall controlling of the form of street space and street characteristics.The final chapter concludes the research procedures, the design principles and the urban design strategies of the mountain town street space based on city renewal.The author hopes that, to some extent, this paper could play a role of an initiation in the area of mountain town street space study based on city renewal, as well as the area of practical use.
