A Contemporary Application Study Of The Traditional Residential Space Form Of The Northern Courtyard

With the continuous improvement of the urbanization process,people’s material base has been met,and then began to pursue a comfortable living environment,residential security,uniqueness,a sense of belonging to the growing demand.With the development of international economic integration,contemporary architecture,while pursuing functionality and modernization,neglects the protection and inheritance of historical culture,and part of modern architecture destroys the original cityscape,the phenomenon of architectural homogeneity is becoming more and more obvious.It is more and more necessary to pay attention to how to keep the spiritual connotation of traditional architecture in contemporary architecture,to transcend the boundary of time and space,and to combine the old spirit with the new technology and demand,so as to improve the living quality of residents.Lewis Mumford,a well-known urban planning theorist,once said: “A good living environment needs the perfect combination of architecture and traditional culture.”.Thus,contemporary residential architecture should be inseparable from traditional history and culture.The formation of traditional courtyard-style dwelling houses in north China is closely related to the local history and culture,customs and habits,and at the same time affected by factors such as climate,environment and geographical location,thus forming a unique and typical spatial model.Therefore,the types and characteristics of the traditional residential houses in northern courtyard are highly identifiable,which has important reference value and wide applicability to the design of contemporary residential space.This paper firstly expounds the space development and distribution,space characteristics and space spirit connotation of courtyard-style traditional residence,and then summarizes the general law of courtyard-style traditional residence space formation.On the basis of this,a comprehensive analysis is made of the traditional folk houses of the northern courtyard style.First,the spatial system is analyzed,and then the spatial types are analyzed,and finally analyze its construction advantages.Through combing and analyzing the application of the traditional residence of the northern courtyard style in the contemporary urban space,and summarizing from different angles,this paper studies its design inspiration to the contemporary residence of the courtyard style and how to inherit and innovate,the feasibility of the method is analyzed with an example.At last,it summarizes and looks forward,explains its significance,reflects on the positive and negative aspects,and makes a reflection and summary on the sustainable development of courtyard house in contemporary and future urban space.
