As an important window for the transmission of regional culture, urban cultural parks have developed into a new trend worldwide. At present, the world’s communication environment is becoming increasingly digitalized and globalized, the boundaries between regions have become blurred, and the cross-regional integration of cultures has gradually given modern meaning.Under the influence of globalization, the design techniques of many cultural parks have not undergone in-depth localization research, and most of them are based on blind copying of excellent foreign cases.Although this kind of urban landscape has the mark of globalization,it has not been well publicized and embodied in its local regional characteristics and cultural selfconfidence. Therefore, this paper proposes the design research of cultural park based on the concept of cultural symbol extraction. The article first uses literature research method, field research method, comparative analysis method and other methods to study the concept of integrating regional culture into landscape design.Relying on the relevant theories of regional culture, semiotic culture and regional cultural symbol extraction,it analyzes and studies the regional cultural design experience and site design background of excellent cases. From theories and cases,I explored a method of visually analyzing articles about Laos regional culture with Cite Space software, and summarized 11 cultural symbols such as the physical culture, customs, beliefs and culture of Laos. The article analyzes the unique connotation of Lao culture, discusses the Lao cultural symbols and the landscape design in the site, and combines the summarized cultural symbols to design the park landscape plan of the west area of the South Lake Park in the Saiseta Comprehensive Development Zone. This design plan has important practical significance for enriching the regional characteristics of the landscape, enhancing the cultural identity of local residents and harmoniously coexisting with the landscape environment, and provides a beneficial reference for the subsequent design of regional cultural landscapes.
