With the all-round development of China, the overall construction level of China and the urban form of China have entered a new stage of high renewal. In the past, cities dominated by labor-intensive industries with low technology content in the secondary industry are gradually developing into high-tech service-oriented cities dominated by service industry.Based on this, urban space is undergoing unprecedented changes. As a comprehensive carrier, the city needs to undertake the operation of various complex social functions and social activities. As a part of the city, the city square has also become an important carrier of urban operation. The development of city square can be said to be accompanied by the development of western cities. After entering modern times,China has introduced the concept of western modern urban construction in urban construction, and integrated into the national conditions with Chinese characteristics. The urban spatial form is also showing more and more complex patterns. Therefore,in the construction and planning of city square,it is necessary for designers to investigate and satisfy the interests of various parties. The concept of elasticity provides an important theoretical basis for this process. The purpose of this paper is to study the elastic design;Combing the development of elastic design; This paper summarizes the theory of elastic design, and tries to introduce elastic design into the design of city square.Using the theory and perspective of elasticity to prove the necessity of design, the direction of transformation and the purpose of implementation,so as to find the method of urban square elastic design.Taking daxinggong city square in Nanjing as an example, this paper makes a field study of daxinggong area to explore and try the application of elastic design in city square.
