Meta-stereotypes Among Doctors And Patients And Their Threat Effects

Meta-stereotype is refers to the individual outside of group members on their group(group)stereotypes collection of belief.Meta-stereotype threat is to point to by the negative stereotype of a social psychological predicament,cause the pressure of group members and afraid to experience,thus make the group members to show the corresponding behavioral response.In recent years,a growing number of studies have shown that meta-stereotypes are more important variables influence intergroup relationships.Compared with stereotypes,meta-stereotypes of intergroup relations more profound and lasting influence.In recent years,due to various reasons,become two contradictions between doctors and patients is increasingly highlighted.Therefore,in this paper to doctors and patients between the two groups as the subjects at the same time discusses the doctor-patient stereotypes,stereotypes and Meta-stereotype threat effect and presence of conflict through the impact on the doctor-patient relationship.This study through interview 15 doctors and patients,handed out320 questionnaires,investigates the stereotype of the between doctor and patient and meta-stereotypes,and compared the presence of conflict through effects on stereotypes stereotypes and yuan.Second from 47 doctors,114 patients and the presence of conflict experience has selected84 patients as subjects,let the participants according to different ways of instructions to write adjectives to manipulate the "threat" and "no threat",the conditions of inspection to the RMB negative stereotype activation effect and the presence of conflict through patients to negative effect of stereotype activation function.The results showed that:(1)Patients for doctors hold stereotypes are positive characteristics,and doctors to patients have stereotypes,there are 8 positive characteristics,six negative characteristics.Patients with conflict experience than patients with no conflict through more negative stereotypes of doctors(2)The doctor hold meta-stereotype are positive characteristics,and patients hold Meta-stereotypes,there are six positive characteristics,five negative characteristics.(3)In general,patients with meta-stereotypes held on patients than doctors hold a more negative stereotypes.The doctor hold Meta-stereotypes stereotypes are more negative than patients for doctors.(4)After negative stereotype activation,can lead to the improvement of intergroup anxiety,and reduce the level of intergroup relations;Doctors and patients,there were no significant differences in intergroup anxiety level in intergroup relations level,the doctor was significantly lower than patients.(5)Than in patients with conflict experience had never before cause of intergroup conflict through patients' anxiety level is higher,and intergroup relations level is lower.
