Before 1937,Hunan as the rear of the Anti Japanese war did not have the fluctuation of new woodcut.But after the July 7th incident of 1937,a large number of young woodcutters moved to Hunan,This group of patriotic young people created a large number of woodcut works by using the woodcutter in their hands,and carried out the Anti Japanese and national salvation movement in full swing.This paper is divided into five chapters,which respectively to discuss the background of the rise of woodcut printmaking movement in Hunan during the Anti Japanese War,woodcut engraving groups in Hunan during the Anti Japanese War,woodcut periodicals and woodcut exhibitions in Hunan during the Anti Japanese War,woodcut artists and woodcut creations in Hunan during the Anti Japanese War,and the historical significance and influence of woodcut engraving movement in Hunan during the Anti Japanese War.The first chapter analyzes the historical background of the rise of woodcut engraving in Hunan during the Anti Japanese War,including four aspects:the political environment and economic development of Hunan during the war,the communication and resource development of Hunan during the war,the education and publishing of Hunan during the war,and the literature and art salvation movement of Hunan during the war.The second,third and fourth chapters are the core of this paper.In December 1937,a group of young woodcut artists set up a "Woodcut Research Association”in Changsha,Hunan Province,which used woodcut art to carry out Anti-Japanese War propaganda activities.In 1938,they were evacuated due to the fire in Changsha.In June 1938,Wuhan established the "National Association of Anti-Japanese War of woodcuts",and LiHua was elected as the director of Hunan Province.In August 1939,LiHua,LuDi and LiHaiLiu organized and established the Hunan Branch of the"National Association of Anti-Japanese War of woodcuts".The association actively established a series of woodcut activities such as periodicals,exhibitions,woodcut lectures and woodcut correspondence classes,which put Hunan's Woodcut printing movement on the right track during the Anti-Japanese War.The third chapter introduces the woodcut periodicals and woodcut exhibition activities in Hunan during the Anti-Japanese War.The fourth chapter introduces the woodcut artists and their woodcut activities in Hunan during the Anti-Japanese War,especially the contributions of LiHua,WenTao,LuDi,LuTian to the woodcut movement in Hunan.It also introduces other woodcut artists in Hunan during the Anti-Japanese War,Such as LuHongJi,LouLiDe,LiHaiLiu,YiDi,ZhouLingZhao,ChenJianDuo,etc,who created a large number of woodcut works with a patriotic heart and contributed their own strength to the Anti-Japanese War propaganda in Hunan.The fifth chapter is the summary of the thesis,which summarizes the influence and historical significance of woodcut in Hunan during the Anti-Japanese War.
