From 1953 to 1964,the Soviet union's policy towards Korea was mainly r eflected in three aspects: economy, politics and military. After the end of the K orean war, economically, the Soviet union provided a lot of materials and loan s to north Korea, which greatly helped north Korea's economic recovery. On the other hand, the Soviet union, while helping north Korea to recover its econo my,also strengthened its penetration of the north Korean economy, aiming to make north Korea the front line of east Asian confrontation with the United St ates. With the recovery and development of the Korean national economy, the S oviet union did not object to a certain degree of independence of the Korean economy. The reason for this was that the Soviet union took Korea as a wind ow to show the socialist achievements to the capitalist countries. Therefore, the Soviet union could not remain indifferent to the problems in the Korean econ omic construction.Politically, the Soviet union tried to "de-stalinize" north Kore a during this period, but Kim il sung resisted the Soviet intervention and tried to eliminate Soviet political influence in north Korea through continuous purg es.The Soviet intervention was not unsuccessful, thanks to Kim il sung's judici ous use of the sino-soviet conflict of the period.Militarily, the Soviet union pro vided a large number of military materials and technologies to the DPRK,pro viding great support for the development of the DPRK's national defense force s.However, the military weapons provided by the Soviet union to the DPRK were not advanced, but mostly medium and low grade.Even if occasionally,th e Soviet union provided advanced weapons and technologies,it did not provide guidance. In general, from the three aspects of economy, politics and military,we can see the conservative and contractionary characteristics of the Soviet uni on's policy towards north Korea.
