In the history of German immigration,the population problem of GDR has distinct characteristics of the times.There are also many common characteristics of immigration problems between GDR and other countries.As a social problem throughout the history of GDR,the phenomenon of population loss is of great value to the study of immigration.First of all,this paper divides the phenomenon of population loss in GDR into three stages: early stage,middle stage and late stage,studies the scale and characteristics of population loss in each stage.Secondly,it analyzes the domestic and international factors that affect the development of each stage of population loss from the historical dimension.Finally,from the perspective of the causes of population loss,this paper summarizes the factors that act as the driving force,pulling force and resistance in all stages of population loss in GDR.From a macro point of view,there are many internal and external factors in the process of population loss in GDR.The implementation and adjustment of domestic policies and the occurrence of specific events are the internal factors for the change of population loss.The change of international situation is the external trigger factor for this phenomenon.From the micro point of view,the mutual superposition or offset of pulling force,driving force and resistance factors in the migration affect the population loss of democratic Germany at all stages.Economic and political causes are the main causes of population loss in GDR.The social contradictions caused by domestic and foreign factors are the fundamental cause of the population loss of GDR.
