A Survey Of The Current State Of Teaching In The Department Of Sinology At The John Paul Catholic University Of Lublin

Nowadays more and more people decide to study Chinese language,also more and more decide to study abroad in one of the Chinese universities.Chinese language became the "top" aim in learning foreign languages.Poland belongs to European Union,personally did not expect that so many people are willing to learn "not European"language,but not so many universities allow students to study Chinese as a major.The main purpose of the thesis is introducing an investigation report of the Chinese Studies program at John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.In 2014,the author of this dissertation graduated from the mentioned university with bachelor's degree in Chinese Studies,spent there 3 years,including scholarships in China.Despite the fact that the history of Chinese Language Department at John Paul ? Catholic University of Lublin is not that long,but already can do some research about the studies.The first chapter of this thesis mainly introduces the topic and research methods of this thesis:questionnaire survey,data research,literature research.The second chapter introduces the situation of Chinese language in above-mentioned university.The collected materials include:teaching materials,teachers and affiliated professors,courses and training programs,extracurricular activities,opportunities for exchange(international cooperation and scholarships),thesis topics,etc.The third chapter is about the results of the questionnaire.In November,the author collected data between Sinology Students at John Paul II Catholic University.The main aim of analysis is where the students are satisfied or dissatisfied,the situation of teaching materials and the situation of graduates(Chinese language knowledge and work after graduation),several students choose to study in China.The fourth chapter of this dissertation is about problems and suggestions given to Chinese Studies Department in John Paul ? Catholic University of Lublin.This section includes suggestions on how to improve Chinese teaching and how to solve the difficulties of learning ChineseThe author strongly believes that these suggestions can help to improve the Chinese studies in Lublin and show which aspects can be even better than the current situation.
