Chinese characters have become an obstacle for overseas students to learn because of their complex correspondence among sound,shape and meaning.Aiming at this problem,based on the current situation of Chinese characters teaching in Estonia and the advantages of game teaching method,this paper designs some specific and representative Chinese character games and applies them in the class,so as to explore the primary Chinese character teaching under the concept of "game".This paper is divided into five parts: the first chapter mainly describes the research background and significance,research methods,literature review and the game method theory of Chinese teaching.The second chapter is a survey on the teaching of Chinese characters by teachers in the Confucius Institute of Tallinn University of Estonia.The third chapter is about the specific designs of the Chinese character games in Kuressaare Gümnaasium in Estonia.Starting from the principles of the designs of Chinese character games in Estonia,according to the teaching link,the game type and the features of Chinese characters.The fourth chapter takes the Unit 6 of <Happy Chinese I> as an example,carries out specific teaching design in Kuressaare Gümnaasium,and according to the questionnaire survey from the students to make teaching reflection;The fifth chapter summarizes the research of the paper,puts forward the innovation points and shortcomings of the research.The author once conducted a one-year teaching practice at Kuressaare Gümnaasium,which is a middle school under the Confucius Institute of Tallinn University of Estonia.The author has carried on the interview to three Chinese teachers in Estonia before designing the Chinese characters game teaching,found that the Chinese learners are not interested enough in Chinese characters,and Chinese teachers do not fully use the game method in Chinese characters teaching,which provides the basis for the author to make the next teaching design,and provides some references and effective suggestions for the design of Chinese characters game teaching.Then the author considered from three aspects: teaching link,game type and the features of Chinese characters,designed 14 games that can be used frequently in the class of Chinese characters,they are “Stroke exercise”,“What’s the time,Mr.Wolf”,“Shooting”,“Grab characters and attack the Castle”,“Stroke order chains”,“Stick petals”,“Bingo”,“The king of making sentences”,“Throw the handkerchief”,“Looking for friends”,“Characters with pictures”,and “Writing characters behind”.Finally,the three games of “Drive a train”,“Writing characters behind”and “Shooting” are applied in the teaching design.Then,the questionnaire was used to intuitively understand the feelings of Estonian students on the teaching of Chinese character games.In the end,the author put forward some reflections on the teaching design of Chinese characters.The author believes that “Interest is the best teacher”,game teaching method will attract the interest of primary students,and mobilize their enthusiasm and subjective initiative,maximize their learning potential in Chinese characters,help them to make greater progress in learning Chinese characters.
