Revealing some aspects of Marxist historical theory from William Shaw's point of view, especially what is the driving force of historical development and the role of productivity and production relations in it,will help me understand William Shaw's Marxist historical theory from different angles, explain the main problems thoroughly, and put forward arguments on the main problems, and find out the contradictions in William Shaw's Marxist historical theory. When William Shaw focused on the analysis of Marx's historical theory, although he did not want to defend or revise this theory,he tried to dig this theory and reveal its meaning, clarify its subtle differences and reveal some inherent difficulties.Fundamentally speaking,William Shaw regards historical materialism as an empirical scientific theory. Therefore,William Shaw insisted on studying the basic characteristics of Marxist historical theory from the dimensions and perspectives of positivism and science.Based on the basic stand, viewpoint and method of Marxism,William Shaw's profound interpretation of Marxist historical theory is not only a Marxism that enriches and deepens analysis, but also a Marxism that is more faithful and develops Marxist historical theory, and it is also a certain enlightenment to the development of contemporary China.William Shaw didn't want to discuss Marx's whole historical thought, but only one aspect of it.Marx understood it as the economic power behind the historical transformation and evolution-the relationship between productivity and production relations.William Shaw insisted on the interpretation of Marxist historical theory. He believed that productivity played an important role in history, which could more accurately clarify its primary position in historical theory.
