Vocabulary is the basis of language learning,and teaching materials are the important source of knowledge acquisition for learners.Therefore,whether the vocabulary is written reasonably in TCFL textbooks will directly affect the effect of vocabulary acquisition.This paper selects the vocabulary of the comprehensive textbook of Road to Success(upper elementary)as the research object,and uses the quantitative analysis method,and combines the relevant theories to comprehensively investigate and analyze the new words in the teaching materials from three aspects: vocabulary arrangement,new word interpretation and vocabulary practice.Road to Success(upper elementary)is reasonable in terms of vocabulary arrangement.The total number of new words and the number of new words in a single course are controlled within a reasonable range and meet the teaching objectives.Although the distribution of new words is inclined to middle and high-level vocabulary,it is in line with the Chinese level of the teaching object in this chapter.The difficulty of new words is within the acceptable range of learners.The low repetition rate of new words is the main problem in the compilation of most textbooks for Chinese as a foreign language.It is suggested that the author of the textbook improve the recurrence rate of new words by planning the topic of the text;referring to the difficulty of new words,improving the recurrence rate of common words;strengthening vocabulary practice;increasing the repetition of new words in the branch textbooks.The expansion and collocation of new words not only help learners increase vocabulary,but also help them to master the usage and significance of vocabulary better.In the process of teaching,we should pay attention to the advantages of this design.In terms of the interpretation of new words,the textbook uses the English interpretation mode to interpret the morpheme,word,phrase and language point in the new words,and also makes the word annotation,which conforms to the standard of the new words interpretation in the textbooks of Chinese as a foreign language.The five specific forms of interpretation are used for interpretation,which are very rich in the form of interpretation.However,there are some small problems in the interpretation of individual new words,which can be solved by the author.Combined with the research in this aspect,the paper puts forward the Countermeasures for the interpretation of new words in Chinese textbooks as a foreign language: the interpretation mode should be diversified,the interpretation should be combined with the specific context,some special new words should be added with notes and collocations,and the cultural connotation of new words should be reflected.Vocabulary practice is the advantage of the textbook in vocabulary writing.The amount of exercises is enough to meet the needs of vocabulary practice in the teaching process.The exercises are diverse and interesting,and on the basis of diversification,they keep the fixed type of single course main questions,which is suitable for learners in the primary stage.Besides,the setting of practice content has the characteristics of practicality,pertinence and communication.So on,the teaching materials have many advantages in vocabulary practice writing,which is worth learning from the textbook writers.In conclusion,Road to Success(upper elementary)is reasonable in terms of vocabulary arrangement,especially the vocabulary practice part and the design of vocabulary expansion,but the problem of new words reproduction and individual new words interpretation need to be revised in time.Generally speaking,the textbook is not only worth using by the learners of TCFL,but also worth learning from the future writers of TCFL.
