Fang Zhenguan's Poetry Research

Fang Zhenguan was born in Tongcheng,a city with excellent people.Fangshi in Guilin,Tongcheng,is a famous cultural family in ancient China.Fang Zhenguan,together with Fang Wen and Fang Shiju,is known as the "three poets of Fang family",and is an outstanding representative of Tongcheng culture.Fang Zhenguan studied poetry since his childhood,and began to learn from Zhang Ji and Wang Jian.Then he immersed himself in Zhenyuan and Dali.The style of poetry was elegant,which had a great influence on the poetry circle of Tongcheng.Influenced by the family culture,Fang Zhenguan devoted himself to the imperial examination when he was young,but failed repeatedly.Unfortunately,in October of the 52 nd year of Kangxi(Guisi,1713),when Fang Zhenguan was 35 years old,he was implicated in the case of "Nanshan collection" by Dai Mingshi.He was sent to the Sanggan River generation in the northwest of the capital(now the upper reaches of Yongding River),and lived in exile for about ten years.It was not until March 1723 that Fang Zhenguan was pardoned by the emperor and returned to his hometown.The ten years of exile brought great physical and mental suffering to Fang Zhenguan,and also gave him rich themes and sincere thoughts and feelings.The change of his poetry style also had a profound impact.Due to political factors,Fang Zhenguan left few poems during his ten years of exile,only more than 90 poems,quite a lot of gloomy style.After Fang Zhenguan returned home,the local customs gradually revived his soul,and the poetic style became plain and natural.Fang Zhenguan is the author of Fang Zhenguan's poetry collection(also known as Nantang poetry note,six volumes)and his poetry theory Chuo Duanlu(one volume).This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter discusses Fang Zhenguan's family background and life,that is,the influence of Fang's family in Tongcheng,Guilin,on the growth of Zhenguan and the poetry creation,and briefly describes his life.The second chapter discusses the stages of Fang Zhenguan's poetry creation,and makes a textual research on the creation time of each volume of Fang Zhenguan's poetry collection.Generally speaking,Fang Zhenguan's poetry is divided into three stages: before exile,during exile and after exile.In the third chapter,the theme and content of his poems are classified and analyzed,including farewell poems,travel notes,seasonal poems and other poems.The fourth chapter discusses the inheritance of Fang Zhenguan's poetry style to that of his predecessors,and analyzes his plain and natural main poetry style.The fifth chapter discusses the main ideological content of Fang Zhenguan's poetry theory Chuo Duanlu,explains Fang Zhenguan's views on advocating "poetry of poets",the tendency of Zongtang Dynasty and the method of poetry writing.
