In order to meet the different requirements of different regions,schools and students for courses and make up for the shortcomings of national courses,the "Basic Education Curriculum Reform Outline(Trial)" proposes to develop and utilize various resources of school to develop diverse and available school-based courses.Any course is based on certain course resources.Therefore,as the main developers,English teachers in junior middle schools are required to develop school-based curriculum resources based on the current situation of school education and the learning needs of students.Wuxi located at the northeast of Chongqing City,is at the junction of the three provinces of Chongqing,Shanxi and Hubei.As a member of the "Golden Triangle" of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River,Wuxi has both magnificent and colorful natural scenery,as well as mysterious and primitive human landscapes.The rich and unique tourism resources provide materials for English teachers in Junior Middle School to develop school-based curriculum resources.Compared with economically developed areas,due to the mountainous terrain,the students have relatively poor knowledge and narrow horizons.Due to the difference of economic development,some contents of the national curriculum are relatively unfamiliar to students in Wuxi,lacking a sense of familiarity and intimacy.Therefore,the development of school-based curriculum resources has become an inevitable requirement to meet students' personalized English learning.First of all,Literature review was conducted about the domestic and foreign researches on school-based curriculum and junior middle school English school-based curriculum development,the concepts related to the development of English school-based curriculum resources were defined,and the research ideas and methods were determined.Then,the questionnaire was used to investigate the development of school-based curriculum resources of 3 rural middle schools and 3 urban middle schools in Wuxi.SPSS23.0 statistical software was used to analyze the current situation of English teachers' awareness of school-based curriculum resource development in Wuxi Junior Middle School,as well as the development and application of material resources,conditional resources,natural curriculum resources,and social curriculum resources.Finally,four leaders of English teaching and research team were selected to attend the semi-structured interviews to gain a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding.Research findings are as follows:(1)the current English teachers in Wuxi Junior Middle School have relatively high awareness of school-based curriculum resource development,but they have little theoretical knowledge about the practice of school-based curriculum resources development.(2)there is a significant positive correlation between English teachers' development awareness and their development behaviours.junior middle schools are supposed to continuously cultivate teachers' awareness of resource development,enhance resource development capabilities,and give to the advantages of school-based curriculum resources in student learning.(3)the junior middle school in Wuxi harbour a positive attitude towards the development of school-based curriculum resources,but with negative actions.Schools need to formulate school-based curriculum-related policies and systems,and strongly support English teachers to develop and use highly appropriate school-based curriculum resources.Some main factors can be attributed to affecting the school-based curriculum resources of junior middle school English in Wuxi: the difficulty of developing school-based curriculum resources,the lack of teacher resource development ability,and the little importance of schools.This research then puts forward the principles,strategies,procedures and evaluation system of school-based curriculum resource development,to improve English teachers' ability and level of school-based curriculum resources development in Wuxi Junior Middle Schools.
