Many archaeologists,historians and researchers of the like are continuously fascinated by the artefacts of pre-existing societies from the Pre-Columbian era.The research in this paper is meant to investigate the culture,styles and mythologies behind the invention of the Duho and its presence in the Taino societies.It discusses findings and studies which have been done based on the ceremonial seats known as Duhos which came from the Taino people who had established their culture and societies in the Greater Antilles of the Caribbean.They inhabited this region from around 500 to 600 A.D.until their societal demise in the late fifteenth century due to European invasion and colonisation of the islands which commenced after the arrival of the explorer Christopher Columbus in 1492.This paper discusses the functionalities,ritual and decorations surrounding the Taino duho while briefly expanding on the history of the Taino people along with their demise.It is a generalised account of the findings of Taino Duhos throughout the Greater Antilles of the Caribbean documenting their existence there and the roles these sculptural furniture pieces played in their contributions to the everyday life of the Taino people.
