Functionalist Skopos Theory, under the influence of many ideas such as philosophy of action, emerged in Germany in the late 1970 s.In this theory, functionalism and socio-cultural factors are focused,so translation is considered a purposeful human activity and the text is considered an integral part of the world. It has become one of the most influential translation theories of the contemporary era because the limitations of the concepts of the equivalence translation and the binary opposition are broken and a strong practical value is included. In the early 20 th century, the modern marimba was standardized in its form, and after only a century, the instrument is no longer limited to geography and can be played in more than just ensembles. It has been developed and used in various musical genres all over the world, and in our country as well. However, today the development of the marimba in China is characterized by inadequacies and imbalances, which are mainly reflected in the lack of research and low popularity. This report chooses the Skopos Theory as the guiding theory.Ten texts are selected according to the purpose, and the text contents are used as source texts based on four themes: instrument development, performance techniques, representative figures, and representative works.During the translation, after analyzing the translation purpose and the source text, the author proposed a translation strategy for the names and sentences based on Vermeer's three rules, taking into account the parallel translation results. In addition, according to the basic ideas of translation purpose theory and the experience of this practice, the author summarizes the translation process of musical instrument texts and the translator's quality under the guidance of Skopos Theory.
