As one of the three teaching issues in the field of TCSL,teaching materials often play a key role in the whole teaching process.A high level Chinese textbook is not only a good teacher and friend for learners,but also a helpful assistant for teachers.The exercise design and arrangement is an important part of textbook compilation,which directly affects the quality of textbooks and the teaching effect of teachers.This paper selects two intermediate-level Chinese textbooks,Developing Chinese of Intermediate Comprehensive(?)and Road to Success of Lower Intermediate,as the research objects,using the statistical analysis,quantitative analysis,qualitative analysis and comparison analysis and other methods to perform statistics and analysis on the amount,type and content of the exercises in the two textbooks.And based on the research findings,it also puts forward some references and suggestions for the compilation of intermediate comprehensive Chinese textbook exercises.In the aspect of the exercise question amount,the research is carried out from the perspectives of the length of the exercise page and the number of questions.In the aspect of the exercise question types,The statistics and analysis of the two textbooks are made from three perspectives—the total type and the distribution of the exercise question types,the main question type and the secondary question type,the common question type and the unique question type.In the aspect of the exercise content,the research is performed from four perspectives — phonetic exercises,vocabulary exercises,sentence exercises and paragraph exercises.Finally,according to the results of statistics and analysis,the paper puts forward corresponding suggestions on the amount,type and content of the exercises.This paper makes a comparative analysis of the exercises compilation of two representative textbooks on the basis of statistics,looking forward to provide meaningful reference and help for the exercises compilation and design of intermediate comprehensive textbooks for TCSL.
