Beginning in the Northern Song Dynasty,a series of paintings representing the real life of the people at the bottom of the city began to appear in traditional Chinese paintings.With the continuous input and influence of modern Western painting schools,a large number of paintings depicting the real life conditions or misfortunes of the people at the bottom of the society emerged in the Chinese painting circle during the Republic of China.This article takes the suffering image in the paintings of the Republic of China as the research target,and traces the origin and main types of suffering image paintings in the Chinese and Western history;The reasons for the sudden increase in the creation of suffering image paintings during the Republic of China;and the social and cultural effects of suffering image paintings in the Republic of China.Combining with the special era background and social reality of the Republic of China,it tries to analyze and explain the important western thoughts,such as human rights,feminism and humanitarianism,which are implicit in the paintings of the suffering images of the Republic of China,which are accepted or influenced by artists in the art circle.By expounding the contribution made by the artists of the Republic of China to the world anti-war movement,it is trying to explore the suffering image painting of the Republic of China as a kind of art communication media.The social effect and cultural influence of the movement.This further reveals the theoretical value and practical significance of the paintings of the suffering image of the Republic of China to enhance the people's awareness of national suffering,survival and social responsibility.
