A Study On Cross-cultural Adaptability Of Thai International Students In Qingdao University

The cross-cultural adaptability of international students occupies an important position in the study and life of international students.The high degree of cross-cultural adaptability is not only conducive to the physical and mental health of international students during studying abroad,but also conducive to the improvement of learning effects.In recent years,the number of Thai students studying in China has increased dramatically.In order to explore the cross-cultural adaptation of Thai students studying in China,this article takes the Thai students of Qingdao University as an example,and conducts a survey and analysis of their cross-cultural adaptability in study,life,and interpersonal communication through a questionnaire survey.By analyzing the findings of this article,the author believes that: 1.The overall situation of the cross-cultural adaptability of Thai students at Qingdao University is relatively good.2.Influencing factors of this situation,in addition to the ethnicity,gender,major and study experience of Thai students,there are two main reasons:First,Qingdao University is the earliest university in China to accept foreign students,The awareness and measures for serving international students are relatively in place,especially the exchanges and cooperation with Thai universities have been going on for many years,and the cross-cultural adaptation countermeasures for Thai students are relatively mature;secondly,Thailand is China's neighboring country with “a strip of water”.Deeply influenced by Chinese traditional culture,most Thai students are no strangers to Chinese culture.Based on the analysis of the survey results,this article puts forward suggestions for improving the cross-cultural adaptability of Thai students from the aspects of schools,teachers,courses,and international students.At the same time,this article also puts forward recommendations for promotion: Qingdao University will be used to help Thai students complete the cross-cultural adaptation.The effective measures taken,as well as the relevant suggestions put forward in this study,are promoted and applied to other universities in China that recruit Thai students;at the same time,the results of this article can also be promoted and applied to the study of the cross-cultural adaptability of international students from the "Belt and Road"countries,because " Like Thailand,the Southeast Asian countries along the Belt and Road have maintained a certain degree of close ties with China in terms of history and culture.International students from these countries have some similarities with Thai students in China in terms of cross-cultural adaptability.
