The text of this report is selected from a monograph on second language teaching schools published by Oxford University Press in 2013.The book systematically introduces more than a dozen second language teaching schools.Due to the limited space of this translation report, the translator chose to translate chapters 12 and 13,a total of 9303 words. The four second language teaching schools introduced in these two chapters are rarely translated into China before, which has high academic value and translation value. In the process of translation practice, according to the characteristics of the text, the translator first discusses the translation strategies of more English abstract nouns in the original text.Secondly, because there are more dialogues in the teaching cases in the original text, the translator makes the translation of direct quotations more diversiform through three translation strategies: changing the quoted words, adding the quotation information and adjusting the position of the quoted words. The translator also applies information theory to translation practice. The translator believes that through the prompt of functional vocabulary, word order adjustment and voice conversion, the original text can be translated more faithfully and equally without changing the expression habits of Chinese language. The most important purpose of the translator's translation of this text is to provide more information and resources for domestic researchers, teachers and learners of second language teaching, translate and introduce relatively new professional academic works from abroad to China, and hope to help enrich the research on second language teaching and acquisition in China.
