Vocabulary teaching is an important part in teaching Chinese as a second language. Vocabulary is the material of language expression, and it’s also the foundation of listening, speaking, writing and teaching. Without vocabulary, we cannot convey any information. Abstract nouns can incisively and vividly express the content, so they can directly reflect the Chinese learners’ language level, though meanwhile, abstract nouns are too abstract and not readily intelligible, it’s hard to teach and difficult to learn, thus abstract nouns teaching is still an important and difficult part of the vocabulary teaching. So it is very important to find the teaching methods and strategies of abstract noun and to improve the amount of teaching efficiency of abstract nouns appearIn this dissertation, the author takes466abstract noun words from Syllabus of Chinese Words and Characters as the object of study, then based on the study of abstract vocabulary ontology research, combined with the errors analysis in the process of using abstract nouns, the author proposed methods and strategies of teaching abstract nouns. This dissertation has five parts.The first chapter is the introduction, mainly talking discussing the background, significance and scope of the topic contents and methods. The second chapter studies ontology of abstract nouns, and mainly investigates the phenomenon of category seven classification categories, mainly inspects the abstract noun two semantic features and abstract nouns. In the third chapter, based on the Beijing Language and Culture University HSK dynamic Composition Corpus, the author studies the most common types of error of abstract nouns, including semantic errors, improper collocation and writing three types of mistakes. Then the author also analyzes the errors in the process of using abstract nouns. In the fourth chapter, combined The theory of vocabulary teaching and the types of error of abstract nouns concluded in the third chapter, the author put forward the teaching of abstract noun collocation method, comparative three main teaching method and the method of translation, interpretation of law, form morphemes analysis method and other auxiliary.
