This thesis mainly studies and explores the improvisational performance form in modern dance from the different perspectives of Chinese and Western philosophy,as well as the reflection on the development of this dance style in combination with the culture of Tai Chi in Taoism.Contact improvisation is a form of performance derived from modern dance. It has a complete training system and theoretical value in the West, but it is more often viewed with Western thinking. For China, modern dance is currently in a very good development, especially with the progress of the self-media era, more and more dance programs emerge in an endless stream, and the Chinese people's understanding of modern dance is no longer a niche art. However, the perception of improvisation in modern dance is not very clear to everyone. It can be said that most people are still in a state of ignorance. For young choreographers in this industry, they may have a little understanding of this concept, but they are only limited to the initial use of choreography or a small part of the classroom scope. This thesis combines my European study visit and practical experience during my postgraduate period to analyze the importance of contact improvisation in modern dance and the inspiration for young choreographers.
