"Old" Vocabulary Acquisition And Teaching Research

According to the table of common characters in modern Chinese,‘Lao'belongs to 2500 common words,ranking 140th in total frequency(6663 times in total)in HSK dynamic composition corpus 2.0.And‘Lao'is also a complex polysemous word,with as many as 17 meanings,which can be said to be complex and difficult to learn.This article is based on<Jinan University Modern Chinese Corpus>to analyze the acquisition of"Lao"series words by foreign students.It is found that the common meanings of‘Lao'are‘Lao'₁(‘adjective,old'),‘Lao'₂(‘noun,old people'),‘Lao'₅(‘adjective,long time'),,‘Lao'₇(‘adjective,original'),frequency adverb‘Lao'₁₃and degree adverb‘Lao'₁₄and affix‘Lao'₁₆.At the same time,this article studies the biased errors of‘Lao'series words of foreign students,and finds the following phenomena:from the perspective of the types of biased errors,the biased errors of‘Lao'series words mainly focus on the substitution error,accounting for 57.69%of the total biased errors.From the perspective of meaning,the biased errors mainly happen in the‘Lao'₁,‘Lao'₅and‘Lao'₁₆.Based on the above conclusion,this article analyzes the causes of the errors of the students from the aspects of the complexity of the‘Lao'itself and the explanation of the teaching materials,and puts forward the teaching suggestions through the investigation of the use of the‘Lao'series words in the corpus and the occurrence of the‘Lao'series words in the teaching materials.
