The Influence Of Content And Dynamics On The Appreciation Of Freehand Painting

Dynamism is an important rule in neuroaesthetics.Artists will show dynamic illusion in static works of art to enhance the aesthetic effect.The study found that the content and dynamic of painting works will have an impact on aesthetic evaluation,and the impact of dynamic on aesthetic evaluation may be affected by the content of painting works.At present,most of the researches on the influence of dynamic on aesthetic evaluation are based on the empirical research with figure painting as the content,while the related research with landscape painting as the content is less.And some researchers found that when the viewer evaluates the landscape painting with low dynamic,the sensory motor process will interact with the internal emotional state of the individual.Then,does this phenomenon also exist in the low dynamic figure painting?On the whole,in the related research of content and dynamic influence on aesthetic evaluation,researchers mainly focus on the paintings emerged under the background of western philosophy and aesthetics,but pay little attention to Chinese freehand painting.Therefore,this paper will choose freehand painting as the research material to explore the influence of content and dynamic on freehand painting appreciation.In Experiment 1,36 subjects without professional painting training were recruited to evaluate the aesthetic and dynamic degree of paintings.Through 2(dynamic:high dynamic,low dynamic)×2(painting content:figure painting,landscape painting)repeated measurement ANOVA and correlation analysis of dynamic and aesthetic degree score,the data of dynamic and aesthetic degree score of figure painting and landscape painting were compared respectively.The results showed that the main effects of dynamic(F_(1,18)=143.23,p<0.05,?_p²=0.89)and painting content(F_(1,18)=6.96,p<0.05,?_p²=0.28)were significant.The subjects thought that freehand brushwork and landscape painting with high dynamic were more beautiful.Although the dynamic of different painting contents will affect the aesthetic judgment,there is no linear correlation between the dynamic judgment and aesthetic judgment of figure painting(r=0.20,p=0.19)and landscape painting(r=0.31,p=0.06).In order to further explore whether the relationship between the two is affected by other factors,the second experiment was carried out.In Experiment 2,freehand brushwork with low dynamics was selected as the experimental material,with the painting content and emotional arousal as the independent variables,and the aesthetic evaluation,dynamic evaluation and pleasure evaluation as the dependent variables.During the experiment,44 subjects without professional painting training were recorded.Using 2(arousal degree:high arousal degree,low arousal degree)×2(painting content:figure painting,landscape painting)repeated measurement ANOVA,the data of aesthetic evaluation,dynamic evaluation and pleasure evaluation were compared.The results showed that under the condition of low dynamic,the main effects of emotional arousal(F_(1,14)=14.94,p<0.05,?_p²=0.52)and painting content(F_(1,14)=6.02,p<0.05,?_p²=0.30)were significant.The subjects thought that freehand brushwork and landscape painting with high arousal were more beautiful.After the correlation analysis of the aesthetic degree,dynamic degree and pleasure degree scores of figure painting and landscape painting,it is found that the dynamic degree score and aesthetic degree score(r=0.60,p<0.01),dynamic degree score and pleasure degree score(r=0.59,p<0.01)and aesthetic degree score and pleasure degree score(r=0.82,p<0.01)of figure painting and landscape painting respectively,There was a pairwise correlation between dynamic degree score and aesthetic degree score(r=0.71,p<0.01),dynamic degree score and pleasure degree score(r=0.75,p<0.01)and aesthetic degree score and pleasure degree score(r=0.95,p<0.01).Moreover,the correlation among the three scores of landscape painting is greater than that of figure painting.In Experiment 3,figure painting and landscape painting in Experiment 1 and 2were selected as experimental materials,and lexical association test was used to explore the differences in aesthetic standards of different painting contents.This paper analyzes the words of figure painting and landscape painting written by 62 subjects who have not received professional painting training.The results show that the aesthetic evaluation standards of figure painting and landscape painting are different,and the difference is stable.The subjects tend to appreciate the beauty of artistic conception in landscape painting and the charm of character content in figure painting.In Experiment 4,five figure paintings and five landscape paintings were randomly selected from Experiment 3 as picture materials,and 10 words describing the whole and part were used as text materials.43 subjects without professional painting training were recruited to conduct implicit association test to explore the differences between figure painting and landscape painting.The results showed that there were differences in the processing methods between figure painting and landscape painting(t₍₄₁₎=-4.10,p<0.01).The subjects tended to use partial processing method in figure painting and holistic processing method in landscape painting.The conclusion is that content and dynamic are important factors affecting aesthetic judgment,and landscape painting and freehand brushwork with high dynamic are considered to be more beautiful.The dynamic judgment of freehand brushwork will interact with the emotional state of the individual,and then affect the aesthetic judgment,and the emotional state of the viewer has different influence on the dynamic judgment and aesthetic judgment of different painting contents.This difference is reflected in the two aspects of aesthetic evaluation standards and processing methods.For landscape painting,viewers tend to appreciate the artistic conception of landscape in the way of overall processing.For figure painting,viewers tend to appreciate the charm of characters in the way of partial processing.
