A Report On The Translation: Work And Family

This paper is a report on translation practice using the book“Work and Family” by Japanese sociologist Junya Tsutsui as a translation text and relevance theory of translation as a guiding theory.Through a horizontal international comparison and a vertical period comparison,the book analyzes the problems of the present-day Japanese society in terms of fewer children,unmarried people,and difficulties in employment from a broader perspective of time and space,and explores solutions to the existing problems in Japanese society.The book "Work and Family" is a sociological book,and the language presents rigor and objectivity.The book involves a large number of sociological concepts and vocabulary,and it is challenging to correctly convey these concepts and vocabulary to readers in the translation process on the basis of grasping the overall style of the text.Therefore,the author chose the Relevance theory of translation,which has strong explanatory power,as the guiding theory for this translation practice report.Under the guidance of the Relevance theory of translation,the author uses specific translation strategies to analyze specific problems encountered in translation from the two concepts of direct translation and indirect translation to guide the practice.Since its introduction,the Relevance theory of translation has been widely used in the translation of various texts,but its integration with sociological texts is still insufficient.This paper aims to enrich the field of application of the Relevance theory of translation to guide translation practice.This practice report consists of four chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the translation text,the purpose and meaning of translation,and the translation process;Chapter 2 briefly introduces the development of the relevance theory of translation and its application in the text;Chapter 3 starts from the concepts of direct translation and indirect translation,and uses the translation methods of direct translation,meaning translation,additional translation and subtraction translation to analyze the case study of the translation text and the combination of the relevance theory of translation with the sociological text;Chapter4 is the summary and prospect,which composes the contents of this translation practice report and analyzes the shortcomings,and clarifies the direction of future efforts.Chapter4 is a summary and outlook,which compares the contents of this translation practice report,analyzes the shortcomings,and clarifies the direction of future efforts.Guided by the Relevance theory of translation,this paper uses direct translation and indirect translation methods to translate sociological texts with the goal of optimal association and following the principle of dynamic reasoning.By analyzing the problems encountered in translation,we hope to provide reference and reference for future translations of sociological texts.
