The 2020 U.S.election has been settled,but the discussion about the structure of the election is not over,and for this U.S.election,this paper is based on Giddens's structured theory of the impact of social media in the United States in political elections.The article combs through the interaction between presidential candidates and the media from newspapers,radio,television and media to the Internet age since the founding of the United States.At the same time,from the perspective of media language symbol-political rhetoric,this paper examines the use of political rhetoric in the politics of the U.S.presidential election,discusses the role of political rhetoric on social media,and thinks that political rhetoric plays an active role in ideological propaganda,political mobilization,two-way interaction between candidates and voters.Based on Giddens's theory of re-production,exploring the power re-production of social media in electoral politics in terms of social media technology re-production,technology power re-production,and political parties're-production through social media competition,and analyzing and summarizing the strategies of the Republican Democratic Party of the United States on social platforms in 2020,to look at the role of social media in electoral politics,the study found that social media is shaping the common ground,providing a lot of data for polls,and feedbacking voter information,monitoring and guiding voters' votes.Donations have played an important role.Under the framework of social media system,the relationship between U.S.presidential candidates,voters and the media is mutually restricted.Finally,in view of the various problems adversity in the U.S.election,we reflect on the functions of social media,both positive and positive,and emphasize that China should strengthen the security of science,technology and information technology,and adhere to the socialist democratic system with Chinese characteristics.
