Research On Traffic Congestion Control In Tongling City Based On Smart Transportation

The flourishing economic development in China over the years has witnessed the increasingly higher level of urbanization.In urban areas,the number of people purchasing vehicles has risen year by year.People's constant pursuit of a better life has led to the higher requirement of light traffic on the roads.However,against such a background,the supply of roads fails to meet people's expectation of urban transportation.Traffic congestion has been a headache that keeps haunting them.Especially now,with the continuous improvement of people's living standards,not only big cities like Beijing and Shanghai but more and more third-and fourth-tier cities are confronting the problems of traffic congestion due to the popularization of vehicles.Therefore,urgent actions must be taken to effectively solve traffic congestion.As shown by facts,traditional approaches such as widening roads and speeding up the construction of transportation facilities have no longer been effective enough to respond to the growing demand for transportation.In recent years,Tongling City's regionalization area has undergone dramatic changes since Zongyang County is incorporated under its administration.Factors like the increase in population and vehicles,imperfect structure of urban road network,and poor capability in maintaining traffic order have given rise to traffic congestion in Tongling City.Despite of certain results achieved by a series of measures taken in dealing with traffic congestion such as strengthening management and control,and reducing accident rates,these moves are far from mature.Traffic congestion control measures adopted by Tongling City at present are featured by many defects including low level of intelligentization,imperfect traffic management mechanism,and discordance between traffic development and services.Nowadays,following the rapid development of the Internet,big data and other technologies,smart transportation has been widely applied in many cities at home and abroad.It is a new way for Tongling City to properly address its traffic congestion.Hence,the research direction of this paper centers on how to resolve the current practical issue of traffic congestion in Tongling City from the perspective of smart transportation.This reality-based paper takes Tongling City as an example and in combination of the concept of “smart transportation”,analyzes its current situation and cause of traffic congestion as well as current development situation and problems of smart transportation,with the purpose of figuring out the key in utilizing the mode of smarttransportation to solve traffic congestion and coming up with corresponding countermeasures and suggestions regarding four aspects: attach importance to the overall planning of smart transportation construction in Tongling City,improvement of smart transportation management system in Tongling City,strengthening the application of smart transportation technology in traffic congestion management,and building of smart transportation big data platform.Other third-and fourth-tier cities like Tongling City could also refer to such instance when coping with traffic congestion by means of the mode of smart transportation.
