National Narratives Of People's Heroes

As the spiritual core of traditional Chinese culture,the transmission of heroes has a profound impact on the country.The analysis of hero narratives in the current academic field usually focuses on the changes in the image of hero narratives and the development of the literary direction of hero narratives,neglecting the analysis of their value and practice at the level of political discourse.This paper conducts a discourse analysis of hero narratives from a political perspective,revealing how the people's hero as a political discourse is constructed through the national narrative.Starting from a genealogical approach,this paper divides the genealogy of hero narratives into the folk narratives of heroes and the national narratives of heroes.Through a genealogical analysis of heroic narratives,we delve into the modes of transmission of heroic discourse and point out the differences between folk narratives and national narratives and their common role in the construction of heroic discourse.The national narrative has advantages over the folk narrative in terms of its dissemination methods and channels that cannot be ignored.After completing the comparative analysis of the two,the study of the national narrative of the people's hero is introduced from the people's hero and the production of the people's hero discourse.By analyzing the generation and dissemination of the national narrative discourse of the people's hero and its political-ethical value and political value of dissemination.In this way,we understand or explain how people's heroes emerge from real practical life,how the state forms the discourse of people's heroes through narratives,and how the discourse of people's heroes reacts to real life.The state narrative of the people's heroes produces the discourse of the people's heroes through a series of state acts of commemorating heroes,honoring heroes,spreading heroic deeds,and establishing and promoting heroic spirit.The discourse of people's heroes is disseminated through political rituals,mass media,and literary works.As a bridge of ideological communication between the people and the state,the discourse of heroes plays its specific value-oriented function,transmitting its mainstream ideology and social values to the people and influencing their thoughts and actions.The study of the heroic state narrative is used to explore the discursive construction of the people's heroes,revealing the ways and characteristics of the construction of Chinese political discourse from one perspective and aspect.At the same time,a value analysis of the production and transmission of the people's heroes discourse helps deepen the problematic awareness of this topic at the epistemological level of discourse construction,while developing certain generalizable values.
