Abstract/Summary:
President Xi Jinping,also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission,speaks at a national education conference in Beijing,on Sept 10,2018.Xi stressed building an education system which comprehensively fosters the students’ all-round moral,intellectual,physical and aesthetic grounding with a hard-working spirit,in a bid to bring the country’s personnel fostering system to a higher level.Because of its elegance and simplicity,the chess project has been recognized by the field of education and the whole society in the development of the comprehensive quality of youth,especially the school sports.Primary and middle students are the backup force in chess,it’s important to promote chess sports to them.The essay,which takes the situation of chess in primary and middle schools in Beijing as the main research object by using questionnaire investigation,and aims to find out the problems in the process and explore suitable promotion strategies for Beijing teenagers’ chess education,as well as provide practical and feasible suggestions towards the further development of the adolescent chess education in Beijing.The innovation of this essay lies in fill the gap of chess education carried out in primary and middle schools,and provide practical and feasible suggestions towards the further development of chess education in Beijing.The author conducts research and analysis towards primary and middle school’s chess education in Beijing from four aspects—the policy and management system,the primary and middle schools,the teachers and the students by using literature analysis,questionnaire investigation,mathematical statistics and logical analysis and draws the following conclusions:(1)The chess belongs to the non-Olympic program,receives low public attention and gains limited support from the government.(2)Because of the difference between Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Chinese Chess Association,the two sides linked through work is not closely,blocked the progress of chess education in primary and middle schools in Beijing.(3)Traditional culture education as the mainly comprehensive practical courses are set in the curriculum plan of primary and middle schools,but these are very few schools included chess in their curriculum.(4)Most teachers recognize the value of chess education,but the level of teachers are uneven and lack of training opportunities make the teaching standards very low.(5)Less the number of youth chess tournament events and insufficient media publicity,failed to create a good chess culture atmosphere to mobilize students’ interest in learning.The following suggestions are given based on the conclusions include the policy and management system,curriculum,teachers level,chess tournament events and media publicity above:(1)Adapt to the adjustment of national policies and raise awareness of chess in society,through policy guidance to promote the development process of chess education in primary and middle schools in Beijing.(2)Chinese Chess Association should sign strategic cooperation memorandum with Beijing Municipal Education Commission and establish a culture system to promote the chess education sustainable development.(3)Primary and middle schools can optimize the curriculum setting through school-based curriculum,establish the campus chess development system with regional and school characteristics through introduce the chess education into the curriculum system.(4)Conduct promotion under a standardized platform model to optimize teacher training and promote the standardization of chess education,enhance the standardization of teaching.(5)Based on competition,communication,cultural propaganda,strengthen the publicity of the media to the chess competition and raise the popularity of the event,let the youth appreciate the chess.
