The Enlightenment Of The Confucian "be Careful Of Independence" Thought To The Self-education Of Contemporary College Students

The word of “Shen du” in Confucianism means that a person can still be careful about what he says or does without the supervision of others.It first appeared in the two books of the traditional Chinese Confucian classics “Da Xue” and “Zhong Yong”.It was not only an important concept of the Chinese traditional Confucianism,but also one of the important means of Confucian moral cultivation.In the long-term development process,the Confucian thought of "cautious independence" has formed a rich connotation and a complete system.It is still of great value as a traditional way of self-cultivation in contemporary times.It is a compulsory course for college students to carry out self education.Based on the study of the origin,evolution and modern value of the Confucian "Shen du" thought,this paper analyzes and explains the value and modern implication of the Confucian "Shen du" thought in the universities.Meanwhile,from the angle and direction of self-education in moral education of Contemporary College Students,the self-education of college students is combined with the thought of "being cautious and independent" of Confucianism.In view of the self-education of Contemporary College Students,This article makes a tentative study of the essence of the Confucian "prudent independence" thought,and then probes into its enlightenment to the self-education of contemporary college students,cultivating the spiritual world of self-education of college students with the spiritual soil of Confucian "Shen du" thought.
