The urban retired old people are an important group in the society.Retirement not only makes their social role change,but also makes their material living standard decline,interpersonal contact circle shrink,social status decline,part of social support network missing.These changes affect their social desire,family relationships,social relationships and attitudes towards their future life,as well as their mental health,especially their level of self-worth.The quality of life in old age has been seriously affected by the decline of self-worth of some retired elderly people,and even some of them commit suicide because of excessive loss of self,which affects the harmony and stability of family and society.In view of this phenomenon,this article launched the urban community retirement elderly self-worth promotion intervention and research.In this study,we investigated the retirees in K Community of new city,Xi'an,who were served by the author's professional practice organization.Firstly,by observing and interviewing the retired elderly in this community,we found that they have low self-worth,and their self-worth perception has some bias and ambiguity,second,the self-worth questionnaire was used to measure the self-worth of the retired elderly,and the reasons for the lower values were analyzed.Finally,on the basis of the needs assessment,the author selected 9 retired old people whose self-worth level was lower as the service object,and used group work method to intervene,based on the theory of social support,hierarchy of needs and group dynamics,this paper designs eight activities in five stages to help the retired elderly to understand their self-worth and to improve their self-worth.The concrete intervention process is:the first stage is mainly establishes the relations,the understanding self-worth feeling.It consists of two mutually supportive activities,the main purpose of which is to enable the group members to become familiar with each other,to identify with each other,to facilitate the formulation of group rules and to have an initial understanding and perception of Self-worth.The second stage is to develop positive living habits,develop a sense of self-worth.One session was supplemented by a health activity that introduced the group to themselves,motivated them to actively pursue their sense of self-worth,and promoted mutual help among the group members;the third phase was to build family support to compensate for family support for their sense of Self-worth.The fourth stage is to expand the social relationship and make up the social support to the sense of Self-worth.Two complementary activities,learning new knowledge about smart devices and the Internet,allowing them to expand the breadth and depth of their social relationships without fear of all forms of social and cultural input,feel positive self worth.For the last offline activity,the social worker should deal with the emotion of separation,arrange follow-up online and offline regular return visit follow-up service,contrast and consolidate the effect of intervention.The overall assessment results show that social workers'group upgrading activities using social support and guidance have achieved better practical results,and the retired elderly have improved their self-worth,self-worth of each dimension of the overall value and sub-item value have different degrees of improvement.The author believes that it is feasible to use group work methods to provide regular skills upgrading services for the retired elderly in urban communities,the retired elderly can effectively learn the knowledge of self-worth in the group situation,understand the importance of Self-worth,establish a positive attitude to life,and take the initiative to enhance self-worth.
