As an important part of the elderly group, retired cadres have made great contributions to national construction and the development of various undertakings.Although they can enjoy basic benefits such as relevant national pensions and medical security after retirement,in reality, there are still some retired cadres who find it difficult to adapt to changes in professional identity and living conditions after retirement, which in turn leads to a sharp decline in self-worth,making it difficult to properly debug their retirement life. Some retired cadres have bad emotions such as anxiety and loneliness, and even develop into diseases such as "retirement syndrome".In this regard, this study explores how social work can intervene in the improvement of self-worth in this group in the context of active aging,so as to achieve happiness in aging.Taking retired cadres in F City and W District as the research object, this paper describes and analyzes the current situation of self-worth of retired cadres based on the hierarchy of needs theory through semi-structured interviews. It is found that some retired cadres have a low sense of self-worth,which is mainly manifested in three aspects: social support network changes caused by social role change, negative stereotypes deepened by lack of recognition by others, and social maladaptation caused by the solidification of behavioral concepts. On this basis, according to the relevant propositions of group dynamics theory and social support theory, this paper adopts the method of group work to intervene, and uses the self-worth scale of the elderly compiled by scholar Song Yi to compare the group members from the five dimensions of interpersonal value, influence value, physiological value, rule value and psychological value. It is found that the development of small groups has a certain effect on the improvement of self-worth of most retired cadres who participated in the intervention. Therefore, the value advantage of social work can effectively intervene in the group of retired cadres,so as to improve their social support network, cultivate a positive attitude to life, improve self-efficacy,and then realize the recognition of self-worth.In this study,it is expected that the group members can still maintain their practical experience and extend it to their daily lives after the group ends, continue to reduce the situation that retired cadres have a relatively low sense of self-worth,and provide a case reference for better protection of the retirement life of this group.
