| This paper studied the effects of college public welfare associations with social work nature on the promotion of college students volunteerism. It mainly adopted participative observation and unstructured interview to explore embodiments of this type of college association with social work nature in shaping college students volunteerism. In this study,Association Y of Northwest University was selected as the target, and it has been realizing its concept of“serving the society and caring for the others”under cooperation with some social organizations and institutions through its own advantages, and especially providing sufficient conditions for shaping university students volunteerism. It was found that assocation ‘Y’ effects in promotion college students volunteerism were mainly reflected in three aspects. The first was association training, having the function to guide for college students volunteerism;the second was social practice, which could enhance college students volunteerism;the third was the summing-up meeting, which could sublimate and condense college students volunteerism.Although the training and social practice of the association played guiding and enhancing roles in the promotion of college students volunteerism, the members of the association did not have a deep understanding of volunteerism in the first two stages, and their volunteerism still needed to be further consolidated. Therefore, through the above-mentioned summing-up meeting in the third stage, the members had a more clear understanding of volunteerism, under the supervising trainers guidance and inspiration, and their intrinsic values and voluntary dedication spirits learned and acquired from the training and practice were finally confirmed in a form of certain schemas, which seemed more beneficial to internalize their volunteerism. In general,as a college public welfare association with social work nature,Association Y played an important role in the promotion of college students volunteerism. |
