With the continuous advancement of modernization, the number of three generations of direct families in the city should be gradually reduced in theory. However, according to the existing data, the proportion of the three generations of direct families in the total family has not been significantly reduced, and has remained stable. Therefore, the intergenerational support phenomenon derived from the three generations of urban direct families is the focus of current Chinese society, and also the potential direction and content of social work in China. The research on intergenerational support based on large sample survey data has certain limitations, and can not observe the concept differences and practical needs between generations. The purpose of this study is to explore the intergenerational support, and to further observe the three generations of direct families through qualitative research. In this study,12 interviewees were interviewed, the survey data related to the family structure, intergenerational support and the concept between the two generations.Answer the following questions: what is the current state of the three generations of direct families in Contemporary Chinese cities? What are the specific contents and performances of the two generations' support in economy, life and emotion? What problems should be paid attention to when social work is involved? The main conclusions of this study are as follows: First, contemporary three generations of direct family is a new family form with Chinese local characteristics, which is shaped by modern life and has historical inertia.Second,as a whole, among the three generations of urban direct families, the intergenerational support under the two types of middle-aged parents, young children, and young old parents,middle-aged children and young children mainly flows downward, especially in the aspect of life support, which is mainly reflected in the care of children by parents, and in the economic aspect, which is also basically in line with "tears flowing downward".From the emotional level, emotional support between the two generations is more balanced because they live together, but parents are stronger in emotional needs. The third,on the conceptual level, from the overall point of view, the parents still maintain a more traditional family concept, and the modernity of the children is more prominent. However, the traditional and modern family concepts of the two generations cannot be divided into two parts. The two concepts will overlap and change between the two generations.Fourth, due to the weakening of the traditional concepts of the three generations of the direct family, and the obvious differences in values between generations, the urban family space is closed and narrow, resulting in contradictions and difficulties within the family, which requires the participation and involvement of social work. From the economic point of view, children are facing greater economic pressure of parenting. In addition, although the consumption of the parents themselves will decrease, they bear the economic pressure to support their children's families, especially the men's parents. Therefore, endowment insurance and medical insurance are very important for the economic life security of the elderly. From the perspective of life support, the contradiction between the two generations is mainly concentrated in the upbringing and education of children, and this contradiction is more common.Female parents bear more pressure to care for their children, while male parents face the problem of living alone or lack of self-efficacy.From the perspective of emotional support, the parents of the only child family have a higher risk of spiritual comfort, and the mother-in-law and son-in-law are more likely to cause friction. In addition, parents basically have higher needs in emotional support.
