| With the accelerated urbanization and the comprehensive implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, the rural industrial economy develops rapidly, and employment opportunities in towns have increased greatly.More and more farmers have given up going out to choose to work in the vicinity of their residence, families left behind have decreased. At the same time, young parents are still under the great pressure to raise children,so grandparents usually intervene in the upbringing of the grandchildren, and intergenerational raising is becoming more and more common in rural areas.Compared to the grandparents’ complete raising in left-behind families, the current intergenerational raising refers to the cooperation of grandparents and parents. This difference also implies a change in family structure,i.e.,a shift from a nuclear family to a temporary primary family. The above changes will inevitably impact intergenerational relationships in intergenerational raising families.Observing and analyzing the latest state of intergenerational relationships in these families will help to solve intergenerational problems and promote harmonious family relationships.Taking the parental perspective as the entry point, the study is carried out in the framework of intergenerational solidarity-conflict theory and nurturing-support theory. After collecting 152 parental questionnaire data and semi-structured interviews of 10 typical families,we analyzed the intergenerational relationship among families in S village from six aspects: economic support, labor service distribution, emotional connection, living habits, intergenerational norms, procreation and education concepts, which can be divided into two dimensions of intergenerational support and conflict. The study found that the family’s intergenerational support was slightly unbalanced but basically stable;intergenerational conflicts were frequent but hidden;Intergenerational interactions show the utilitarian exchange between grandparents and fathers, the intimacy between parents and grandchildren, and the unidirectional support between grandparents and grandchildren, and family intergenerational relationships as a whole show contradictory characteristics. These characteristics also point to the problem that may exist in rural intergenerational parenting families,i.e.,increased pension risks, difficulties in parenting, and the educational problems of grandchildren. The above problems can be attributed to both individualized and structural causes,i.e.,the collision between individualized and traditional family concepts, the contradiction between modern female consciousness and traditional family division of labor, and the conflict between intergenerational educational concepts. To address these problems,we can promote paternal involvement, unify intergenerational educational concepts and cultivate the emotional foundation of filial piety within the family system.Outside of the family system,we can improve family elderly support policies, develop child care institutions, and establish a scientific family education guidance system, etc. |
