According to the Biology curriculum standard of high school(2017 Edition),biology curriculum should pay attention to the needs of students' personal life and future society, and it should develop students' key competences in terms of life concept, scientific thinking, scientific exploration and social responsibility.Students can use induction and generalization, model and modeling, creative thinking and other methods to solve problems in the process of model teaching.Model teaching is conducive to the development of scientific thinking, the process of in-depth scientific exploration, the construction of biological concepts, and it has positive significance for students to develop key competences. This paper finds that the research of model teaching in the context of key competence has a rising trend in the past two years by using the literature research, but the researches on how to effectively implement model teaching with students as the main body in class are relatively few.Using the questionnaire 1 to investigated the cognition of biological model and modeling consciousness of the high school students in Liaocheng City. The results showed that 58.87% of the students didn't understand the biological model, only 15.85% of the students could often see the biological models in class, about 49.81% of the students had never made the biological models in class, and 70.94% of the students were willing to practice in class, and 58.87% of the students wanted teachers to use the model to explain abstract knowledge. At the same time,we interviewed the teachers of this school. The results showed that all teachers interviewed had heard about model teaching, and there were 3teachers who often carried out model teaching, which accounting for 25% of the total number of the respondents. And more than half of the teachers could say the content of biological key competence.Based on the current situation of the investigation, the model teaching experiment of Molecule and Cell was carried out in this school. The experimental class carried out the model teaching, and the control class carried out the routine teaching.Firstly, this paper sorts out various models and model building activities of this module, and optimizes the process of model building. And then this paper puts forward the teaching strategies of group cooperation,role-playing,problem driven and creating situations in order to improve the students' key competences, and explains them with corresponding cases.Using questionnaire 2 to investigated students at the end of term, and the results show that the students in the experimental class know more about the biological models than those in the control class. The development level of students in the experimental class is higher than that in the control class in life concept, scientific thinking and scientific inquiry, and there is no significant difference in the development of social responsibility.SPSS software was used to analyze the students' final biology scores. The results show that the scores of the students in the experimental class are significantly higher than those of the students in the control class. The results show that model teaching can improve students' interests and achievements in learning biology, and improve students' biological key competence to some extent. And to a certain extent,it can also improve students' biological key competence.Combined with the teaching practice, the paper puts forward the suggestions that teachers should cultivate students' key competence through the teaching process, have the awareness of developing model teaching, deeply study the model teaching method and hold the seminar on model teaching,so as to provide reference for the front-line educators.
