As Chinese education improves by leaps and bounds in the new era,the teaching quality of teachers has become a key issue in the field of education.Powered by the new curriculum reform,high school biology curriculum needs to realize the development of students' key competences,and the development of students' key competence needs teachers with teaching competence.Therefore,the research on the teaching competence of high school biology teachers can help teachers clarify the direction of improving teaching and provide basis and support for teachers' professional development.Based on China's requirements for high-quality and professional teachers and the discipline characteristics of high school biology,this study concentrates on the following main research questions:What is the dimension and structure of high school biology teachers' teaching competence?How to evaluate the teaching competence of high school biology teachers? What is the current situation of high school biology teachers' teaching competence?Based on the above research questions,the dissertation first combs the domestic and abroad research results on teaching competence,and forms a preliminary teaching competence element database combined with the results of behavioral event interviews with in-service biology teachers in high schools;On this basis,the verification questionnaire is compiled to screen the competence elements,and then the competence elements are further refined by Fuzzy Delphi expert method to obtain the teaching competence model of high school biology teachers.Next,based on the content of the above model,according to the scientific process of scale development,the teaching competence evaluation questionnaire of high school biology teachers is compiled;The reliability and validity of the scale are verified to certify the effectiveness and practicality of the scale as an evaluation tool.Finally,taking high school biology teachers in Shanghai as the research object,using the developed teaching competence evaluation scale to put through the survey,analyze the existing level of the overall and various dimensions of the teaching competence of the tested high school biology teachers,and compare the differences of teaching competence levels among different teacher groups.Through the above research process,the high school biology teacher teaching competence model finally constructed in this study includes 4 primary dimensions(knowledge literacy,teaching ability,professional character and personal characteristics),14 secondary competence dimensions and 48 specific competence elements.The evaluation scale developed based on the model has dependable reliability and validity.The survey findings show that the overall and four affiliated dimensions of the teaching competence of the tested participants are at the upper middle level,among which the professional character score is the best,followed by personal characteristics and knowledge literacy,and the teaching ability score is relatively low;In the analysis of the differences in teaching age,school level and professional title,there are significant differences in the overall teaching competence and each dimension level of teachers,while the analysis of gender and educational background indicate no significant differences exist.
