The 18thNational Congress of the Communist Party of China(CPC)takes fostering integrity and promoting rounded development of people as the fundamental task of education,and meanwhile takes the education of Chinese outstanding traditional culture very seriously.Xi Jinping,General Secretary of CPC Central Committee,gave a host of important instructions on inheriting Chinese outstanding traditional culture,and State Council of the CPC Central Committee issued a notice entitled“Opinions on implementing the’Project on Inheritance and Development of Outstanding Chinese Traditional Culture.’”The development of school-based curriculum series on Chinese traditional culture education in Changsha Yali High School meets the requirements of traditional culture education in the new age and is also a must for the construction of Chinese traditional culture-based education curriculum system.The School-based Curriculum Series on Chinese traditional culture education developed by Changsha Yali High School plays an important role in implementing the fundamental task of education,cultivating students’Chinese core values,promoting teachers’professional development,and forming school education characteristics.As a century-old prestigious high school,which has accumulated profound traditional culture,Yali teachers qualify for traditional culture education and its students manifest a demand for learning traditional culture in depth as well.The school being capable of giving full play to the multi-dimensional resource endowment,including the school itself,a cohort of Chinese teachers,students and etc,has developed a rich and varied series of school-based courses on traditional culture education in response to students’needs.The series of school-based curriculum on traditional culture education developed by Yali High School,with its ultimate goal being enhancing students’Chinese competence as well as independent development and social participation capacity,follows the ideas of school-based national curriculum,curriculum of practical activities and characteristic school-based curriculum,which seek to improve students’traditional cultural competence,equip them with the ability of linking ancient and present for application,and involve their autonomous cooperative inquiry as well.The curriculum encompasses over 20 courses,which are mainly conducted in the form of optional course,club activity and research&study event and present their distinctive and complementary nature.The implementation of the school-based curriculum on traditional culture education of Yali High School follows the principles of school coordination,student autonomy,open teaching,and multiple evaluations.Its features rest chiefly on the fact that it attaches importance to the standardization of teaching,respects the initiative of teachers,brings students’subjectivity into play,and focuses on improving students’traditional cultural competence.The evaluation of the curriculum highlights the diversity of evaluation principles and emphasizes developmental evaluation;it embraces multi-dimensional evaluation towards content and stresses the formative evaluation;it adopts manifold evaluation methods and values evaluation on competence development.The development and implementation of Yali school-based curriculum on traditional culture education has made certain achievements in contributing to students’growth in an all-round way,teachers’professional development and specialist school advancement.Problems still exist,though,be they relatively weak systematicness and standardization of curriculum development or inadequate management and guarantee for curriculum implementation.As a result,it is recommended that the school improve its school-based curriculum towards perfection continuously and gradually in the form of strengthening systematic planning,intensifying management,carrying out scientific evaluations and implementing hefty safeguards.
