With the change and development of society,bilingualism has appeared in many ethnic minority areas.In order to improve the bilingual level of ethnic minorities,China has formulated Education policy for bilingual teaching.The language of an ethnic group is both the carrier of the ethnic culture and an important part of the ethnic culture.Bilingual teaching is not only conducive to the improvement of the bilingual level of ethnic minorities,but also bears the responsibility of inheriting and protecting the excellent traditional culture of ethnic minorities.Many schools in minority areas are conducting bilingual teaching in schools,but different schools have different problems.This article studies the current situation of bilingual teaching of Miao and Chinese in primary schools in western Hunan,and selects 367 students and 12 Chinese teachers in two primary schools in Miao District of Fenghuang County as the survey object.The information is based on the ethnicity,age and bilingual level of the teachers,the understanding of bilingual teaching,participating in bilingual training,the importance of bilingual teaching in the school,and the use of textbooks,etc.,conducted questionnaire surveys and interviews with teachers;from the basic information of students' ethnicity,grades,etc.,understanding of bilingual teaching,Questionnaire surveys were conducted on students in terms of Chinese language learning and materials.According to the survey results,the Miao-Chinese bilingual teaching of primary school Chinese in western Hunan has created new problems in the new historical period.The main problems are:the lack of good teachers in teaching,the unreasonable construction of teaching materials,and the lack of importance of Miao-Chinese bilingual teaching in schools And passive learning of students.In response to this situation,local governments should take corresponding measures to strengthen the construction of Miao-Chinese bilingual teaching teachers,increase the depth and breadth of Miao-Chinese bilingual teaching publicity,and ensure the important status of Miao-Chinese bilingual teaching and improve it through various teaching reforms.The subjective initiative of students to learn,so that the bilingual teaching of Miao and Chinese in primary school can be better carried out in the western Hunan area.
