Research And Analysis On The Spoils&Health Curriculum Development Status In Western Hunan Mountain Area Primary Schools

This paper adopted literature, questionnaires, site visits, interviews, statistics,logical analysis and other research methods, aimed at the research of the developmentstatus of the course Sports&Health in the primary schools in Western HunanLudong mountain area, put forwarded the countermeasures to facilitate thedevelopment of the course Sports&Health there. The research results indicate that:①The implement of the course Sports&Health in Western Hunan Ludong mountainarea primary schools is not optimistic, with the fact that the class hours are less thanthe national standard, and the class hours are always occupied by other literacy classor extracurricular activities.②The construction of the curriculum goal needs to beenhanced. Both teachers’ implementation of the curriculum goals and students’cognition for learning objective are needed to be strengthened. Professional textbooksare necessary. In some schools, the teaching only refers to some paper materials,without any written textbooks. Besides, the national features are not well integrated inthe teaching content. The curriculum content is traditional. Aerobics, dance, martialarts and other sports are not included in it; the Miao drums, the Miao boxing and otherethnic sports are also lagged in the development. In addition, Traditional teachingmethods and dull organizational form are used in daily teaching. For example,methods like interpretation, splitting exercise, complete exercise are mainly adoptedfor teaching, and organized by class are always employed for a PE class.③The sportsground are in good condition, but lack sports equipment for the financialreason.④School leaders didn’t pay enough attention to develop the Sports&Healthcurriculum teaching management system in Western Hunan Ludong mountain areaprimary schools.⑤95.8%of the teachers are young and middle-aged,58.3%and16.7%of them are part-time job. The professional title structure is coordinated, mostof the teachers are with the education background of colleges and universities, andofthem are first-grade teachers and senior teachers. But, majority of the teachers didn’tparticipate in the course training of Sports&Health.⑥The teaching evaluationsystem isincomplete.Effective evaluation cannot be carried out for teachers’ teachingand students’ learning, which would be the obstacle for the improvement of thecurriculum Sports&Health.The main factors to restrict the development of thecurriculum in Western Hunan Ludong mountain area primary schools are:①Regionaleconomi cally backward brings about the lack of sports funding and sportsequipment;②Lack of feature tektbooks;③Traditional teaching content and methods,dull organizations lead to the lacking of activities in curriculum developing;④incomplete Teaching management system;⑤Insufficient continuing educationtraining for PE teachers,curriculum development is out of new motivepower;⑥Lacking scientific and reasonable teaching evaluation system. Aiming at theabove factors which restrict the development of the Sports&Health curriculum,counter measurements are proposed in this paper:①Take advantage of Ludongmountain tourism development,increasing the expenditure on physicaleducation.②Develop ethnic traditional sports,like Miao Drums,Miao boxing,createfeatured textbooks.③Strengthen PE teachers’continuing education training;improvethe motive power for curriculum development.④Establish scientific and reasonableteaching evaluation system;activate PE teachers’passion in teaching.
