With the rapid development of social informatization,higher-order thinking skills has become an important symbol of the core competitiveness of all countries in the world,which has gradually attracted extensive attention.How to enrich the classroom teaching mode,in the teaching practice of the concept of technology innovation,to cultivate the high-order thinking skills of students is the realistic requirement of education reform,is also in this paper,we solve the problem: what kind of teaching model in classroom teaching can achieve explore collaborative learning,improve the high-order thinking skills of students better?Focusing on this problem,this study deeply discusses the characteristics of PBL teaching mode and higher-order thinking skills,as well as the relationship between them,and attempts to construct the PBL teaching mode applied to junior middle school geography teaching according to the relevant theoretical basis.Through the data analysis of the questionnaire survey results,the changes of students’ higher-order thinking skills before and after the experiment were tested,and the effectiveness of the PBL teaching mode on cultivating students’ higher-order thinking ability was demonstrated.Through the analysis of the interview results,the shortcomings of this study are pointed out,which can provide reference for the relevant teaching research of PBL teaching model.Conclusion of this study: through the analysis of the questionnaire data,it can be seen that students’ higher-order thinking skills are improved under the PBL teaching mode.It can be seen from the analysis of self-evaluation table of classroom learning that students’ analytical thinking,evaluation thinking and creative thinking have been developed in the teaching process.According to the comparison of students’ geographical performance before and after the test,PBL teaching mode is helpful to improve students’ academic performance,which indicates the improvement of students’ higher-order thinking skills.According to the students’ interviews,the PBL teaching model can stimulate students’ interest in learning geography,which is generally recognized by students.However,students at different learning levels have different learning needs.It shows that PBL teaching mode is helpful to cultivate students’ higher-order thinking skills,but there are some problems in the actual teaching process.For example,PBL teaching mode cannot be applicable to all teaching situations,and teachers should teach students according to their aptitude according to the actual teaching situation.
