With the development of the times,the present society is full of a large number of data closely related to people's lives.For example,high school entrance examination score,University comprehensive ranking,professional employment rate and so on are the performance of a large number of data.People's life needs to analyze the data and make corresponding decisions on the results.This requires students to have certain data analysis ability and master certain data analysis methods.The PBL teaching method is a teaching method for students to solve practical problems through cooperation and communication with group members based on problems in the process of autonomous and cooperative learning.Its concept meets the requirements of the new curriculum reform.The new curriculum reform advocates that in the learning process,students should be the mainstay and teachers should be the supplement.Teachers guide students to master new knowledge and connect mathematical knowledge with actual life,and use mathematical knowledge to solve practical problems.Carrying out PBL teaching in junior middle school mathematics to improve students' data analysis ability is in line with the new curriculum reform philosophy,which can deepen the mathematics teaching related theories and at the same time conform to the development of the times.This article first studies the PBL teaching method and data analysis ability,and divides the data analysis ability into five abilities,namely,the ability to collect data,the ability to organize data,the ability to describe data,the ability to analyze data,and the ability to interpret and infer data.Then design the teaching design based on the question to improve the junior high school students' data analysis ability,and practice it in the junior middle school mathematics course.Before practice,choose the students in the first three and two classes through the mathematics monthly test scores to practice.After two weeks of practice using the PBL teaching method and the traditional teaching method,the two classes conducted a unified data analysis ability test for the students in the experimental class and the control class.After practice,the chi-square test in SPSS software was used to analyze the results of the test questions,and the experimental results of the PBL teaching method to improve the data analysis ability were obtained.After analyzing the test papers,it is concluded that after the students use PBL to teach,the five capabilities of data analysis,namely the ability to collect data,the ability to organize data,the ability to describe data,the ability to analyze data,the ability to interpret and infer data,have been improved and the effect is more significant;In terms of gender,male and female students have extremely significant differences in their ability to describe data.Girls have better ability to describe data than boys.This practice demonstrates that PBL teaching mode can improve students' ability of data analysis.Finally,the author puts forward some teaching suggestions and Countermeasures to improve the ability of data analysis of junior high school students by PBL.
