A Study On Developmental Group To Improve The Social Adaptation Ability Of Migrant Children

Statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics 2019 show that the national mobile population is about 236 million.Such a large number arouses people's attention in migrant children who follow their parents from rural areas to cities.Their social adaptability issues have attracted attention from all walks of life.The social adaptation of migrant children is related to their own healthy development and affects society's virtuous development.Regarding migrant children as a vulnerable group,we apply professional social work methods to study their social adaptations' current situations and problems and improve their social adaptabilities.In this paper,eight migrant children from S primary school in Weifang City were taken as subjects and formed into the developmental group under the guidance of ecosystem theory,social learning theory,and group dynamics theory.After employing the literature research method,survey research method,and field research method,it is found that migrant children had some social adaptation problems,such as bias in self-recognition,lack of family education,poor school adaptation,and lack of peer companionship.The influential factors are also various,including individual,family,school,and social support factors.The developmental group focuses on the individuals' social function,values self-realization,and helps those who lack confidence or have social adaptation problems to grow.Therefore,eight migrant children were formed into a developmental group,and six group activities were carried out with the guidance of professional social workers and the interaction among group members,which gradually improved the social adaptability of migrant children who could better adapt to urban life.The evaluation of the group work's effectiveness is carried out throughout the group activities,including evaluating of the overall effect,the service objects,and the social workers.By summarizing intervention experience and analyzing the groups' evaluation results,it is concluded that the social adaptations of migrant children are dynamic and multifaceted.The developmental group is conducive to encouraging and promoting migrant children to take the initiative to change their behaviors and develop their social functions,which is effective in improving the social adaptabilities of migrant children.This research is still insufficient.The final countermeasures and suggestions for improving the social adaptabilities of migrant children are aimed to discover protective factors that can improve the social adaptabilities of migrant children.It is also aimed to provide some experience and references for the practical research of migrant children.
