Under the new situation of globalization,it has become an inevitable trend and requirement of mathematics education to pay attention to the cultivation of mathematical language expression ability,which has been paid more and more attention and integrated into primary and secondary school education,and mathematical language ability also affects the learning of plane geometry.Therefore,this paper takes 112 eighth grade students in a middle school as the research object and constructs a framework of mathematical language expression ability through literature analysis method.The specific performance of students' mathematical language expression ability was analyzed by quantitative analysis,and the difficulties and possible causes of students' mathematical language expression were analyzed by qualitative analysis.The main conclusions obtained from the analysis are as follows.(1)Mathematical language expression ability consists of mathematical language comprehension ability,mathematical language transcription ability,and mathematical language expression ability.(2)Students lack depth of mathematical language comprehension,do not understand mathematical concepts or only understand their surface meaning without understanding their hidden meaning;do not understand the logical relationships between mathematical statements.Causes of difficulties in mathematical language comprehension:students' knowledge structure is incomplete;students lack the awareness to analyze the topic comprehensively.(3)Students perform well in translating mathematical language and are able to convert accordingly to the requirements of the topic.However,they are prone to the problem of incorrect correspondence points due to the influence of thinking stereotypes.(4)Students need to improve the accuracy and conciseness of their mathematical language expressions,and cannot well choose accurate and concise mathematical language to express the problem solving process.(5)There is a significant correlation between mathematical language comprehension,mathematical language transcription,and mathematical language representation skills.Based on the difficulties and causes of mathematical language expression,targeted teaching suggestions are made to(1)deepen the understanding of specific vocabulary of mathematical language;(2)Developing students' awareness of mathematical language transfer;(3)Provide more opportunities for students to demonstrate in the classroom;and(4)Enhance mathematical reading and enrich mathematical language.
