As an achievement of the long-term development of human thinking, mathematical language, which offers the powerful tool for mathematical communication, is a mathematicization of natual language, carrier of mathematical knowledge and mathematical thinking. It can be said that mathematics teaching is the teaching of the mathematical language. The students often have certain hindrance of learning mathematical language.During the internship period in Shangzhi Middle School in Heilongjiang province, I have been summarizing the types and causes of mathematical language hindrance existed in students through tests, questionnaire, classroom observation, teaching case analysis and applying SPSS software analysis to analyze the survey data and further proposing the strategies for overcoming the mathematical language hindrance for senior high students.There are seven parts in the paper:The first part is an introduction that introduces the background, problems and significance of the mathematical language hindrance.The second part is a literature review that narrates the research status of the mathematical language and mathematical language hindrance at home and abroad.The third part is an overview of the mathematical language including definition, classification and feature of the mathematical language and the relationship between the mathematical language, mathematical thinking and mathematics study.The forth part is about the design and method of the study. It states the purposes, objects, methods of the study. This paper uses the way of questionnaire, carrying out the questionnaire and giving tests respectively to students.The fifth part is the data analysis. Summarizing the types of the mathematical language hindrance existed in students by analyzing the examination papers and designing the questionnaire on the basis of the five mathematical language hindrances; and then analyzing the questionnaire through reliability analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, one-way analysis of variance and five dimensions analysis.The sixth part analyzes the causes for students to learn the mathematical language hindrance and summarizes ten causes for it through analyzing the data.The seventh part introduces the strategies for overcoming the mathematical language hindrance for senior high students through investigation. It offers four strategies for it: first, enhancing the teaching of the mathematical language and laying a good foundation for the students to learn the mathematical language; second, developing the ability in reading mathematical language to strenghten the understanding of mathematics; third, focusing on the conversion of the mathematical language to increase the awareness of application; last, establishing the platforms for mathematics communication to intensify the mathematical expression.
