Peer group is a significant source of children's emotional support.Peer support plays an important role in children's social development and personality improvement.Because of the particularity of the growth environment,children in welfare homes lack the care of their relatives,so their emotional communication needs are difficult to be met.However,as an important compensation for family support,there are also many problems in peer support among children in welfare homes,which seriously affects the establishment of a good peer relationship and the mutual expression of emotional needs.Therefore,it is necessary to enhance peer support and enhance peer relationship for the growth of children in welfare homes.It is not only the core concern of the government and society,but also the need for the healthy growth of children in welfare homes.Firstly,this study adopts the method of literature,questionnaire and participatory observation to carry out an in-depth investigation on children in G County Welfare Home,in order to analyze the questionnaire of children's peer communication and evaluate children's needs for peer support.The results show that the problems in the peer communication of children in the welfare homes of this county are as follows: lack of care and support among peer groups,lack of communication skills,lack of confidence in communication,and serious negative emotions;Their peer support needs mainly include: enhancing emotional communication and cooperation with peer groups,improving interpersonal skills,enhancing communication confidence,and learning to manage negative emotions.Secondly,in view of the above situation and needs,this research,guided by social support theory and advantage perspective theory,formulates a group work plan and carries out group work practice.The Peer Support Group consists of 12 children in welfare homes.The activities of the group are carried out to strengthen the communication skills of the group members,help the group members get emotional support and give support to them.According to the group evaluation questionnaire and worker observation comparison,the effectiveness of the whole group's activities and the service satisfaction of social workers were evaluated.The result shows that the group work promoted the emotional communication between the group members,enhanced the mutual understanding and support among the group members,improved the interpersonal skills and communication confidence of the group members,and their also has a high degree of satisfaction with the group work.Finally,in the part of summary and reflection,the research believes that this group work service has played an positive role in solving the problem of children's peer support in welfare homes.Meanwhile,it also reflects on the shortcomings of workers' use of group work methods and skills,as well as the need to improve the services of children's welfare homes,which provides reference and reference for future related studies.
