With the continuous transfer of rural surplus labor to the city,many children are forced to stay in their homes influenced by many factors.Looking on the scale,the number of left-behind children in rural China has exceeded 9 million at present.There are many left-behind children's problems hidden behind the huge scale,and the problems have also become increasingly prominent in recent years.Compared to other children,there is the general existence of lack of parental care,backward learning achievement,emotional repression and other problems.In case of lack of communication with parents and poor communication with the elderly at home,rural left-behind Children will turn to interact with peer groups.Due to the influence of various internal and external factors,there are some problems in the support of the rural left-behind children,such as the infrequent interpersonal interaction,the lack of emotional support,the lack of academic help and the lack of campus security support,etc.This study aims to explore how to help rural left-behind children solve their problems and meet the group's needs in obtaining peer support.The researchers mainly used questionnaire surveys,interviews,and observation methods to understand the situation and needs of peer support for left-behind children in high grades.Supporting by the advantages perspective theory,social support network theory and Maslow's hierarchy of needs,we conducted group work intervention services.Based on the internship experience at J Primary School in Bijie City,the researcher recruited ten left-behind children to participate in the group activities in the fifth and sixth grades.Starting from the status quo and needs of left-behind children's peers support,the group activities consisted of five sessions and aimed at helping the group seek friendship,obtain emotional comfort,obtain academic assistance and obtain campus security support.This study finds that group work has a positive effect on the issue of peer support for left-behind children and played an active role in helping left-behind children get more peer support.The intervention of group work can help the left-behind children to increase the interaction between groups,promote the establishment and growth of thefriendship.On the basis of enhancing the interaction,they strengthen mutual comfort,academic assistance,and help in campus security support,So they can receive more peer support and help themselves grow in good health.This study will summarize and reflect on the effectiveness and interventional advantages of group work in the discussion of peer support for rural left-behind children and provide reference for the discussion of rural left-behind children.
