Mathematical model thinking has been a must-have mathematical thinking method for students since ancient times, especially in the current implementation of "Compulsory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2011 Edition)",model thinking is listed as the ten core words. In the "General High School Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)",modeling ability is listed as one of the six core qualities, once again highlighting the importance of mathematical model thinking for students' mathematics learning.Although model thinking is so important, there are still many problems in mathematics teaching. For example, when solving practical problems, whether students can use mathematical model ideas to solve them, how well the students have mastered model ideas, whether teachers can effectively teach the understanding and mastery of model ideas, etc. These all require our thinking and exploration..Therefore,this study uses the third-year students as the survey object to study the current situation of the third-year students mastering mathematical model thinking. On the one hand,it can help junior middle school mathematics teachers understand the current situation of the third-year students mastering the mathematical model thinking.A teaching reference. This research mainly uses literature analysis methods, testing methods, questionnaire survey methods, interviews and other research methods.First, according to the existing literature, the level of understanding of mathematical model ideas of junior and third grade students is divided into four dimensions, and the third grade is compiled. The questionnaire on mathematical model thoughts of grade students was conducted in two classes in the third grade of a middle school in Nanning to find out the level of understanding of the mathematical model thoughts of the students in the third grade.Secondly,in accordance with the requirements of the new curriculum standard for mathematical model thinking, the level of mastery of the mathematical model thinking of the third-year students is divided into three levels, and the mathematical model thinking test papers for the third-year students of the junior high school are prepared. In the third grade, three classes were selected for investigation to explore the status quo of students in the third grade in mastering mathematical model thoughts and the differences between students of different genders and different levels in mastering mathematical model thoughts. Finally, conduct interview research on this basis, interview some students and teachers in the test class, and further explore the difficulties and reasons encountered by the students in the third grade in the use of mathematical model thinking to solve practical problems, and propose some rationalizations, and teaching suggestions. The main conclusions of this research are:(1)On the whole, the students in the third grade of junior high school still have a certain understanding of the mathematical model thinking, and on the whole, the level of mastering the mathematical model thinking of junior high school students is at a medium to high level, and only a small number of students are at a low level.(2)Different genders have not reached a significant level of difference in the degree of mastery of mathematical models among junior and third grade students.(3)In the actual problems involving equation models and probability and statistical models, the difference in the mastery of mathematical model ideas between key classes and ordinary classes has not reached a significant level, but in the actual problems involving geometric models and functional models, the focus is The difference in the degree of mastery of mathematical model ideas between the class and the ordinary class has reached a significant level. It shows that students in key classes have more advantages in examinations involving practical problems of geometric models and functional models.(4)For students who have a relatively low level of mastery of mathematical models, the main reasons are as follows:(1)Weak reading comprehension ability;(2)Insufficient knowledge structure;(3)Lack of good mathematics study habits.(5)Some first-line mathematics teachers do not pay enough attention to whether students have mastered the idea of mathematical models.
